I am hesitant to file this as a bug report, because i am not sure if i am understanding this properly. In the newest update, it lists states and abilities for the attributes. I have noticed that some of these are uneven.
One example is dexterity: One member has 41 dexterity, and a block speed of 1.8 with a topper, while another squad member will have 40 and a block speed of 1.4. both are armed with edge five toppers. They also have the same equipment.
Toughness is a little off too. I will take screenshots and post them later. If anyone else notices this please feel free to post your findings here to.

having a small difference in abilities can change the stats of everything from one person to the next.
Unless i miss my guess these look normal to me.

maybe its just me, but the guy with the 28 dexterity has a 1.3 block speed, while the guy with 41 dexterity has 1.8. the numbers are too close in my opinion despite the huge gap in dexterity. meanwhile the guy with 8 dexterity has a .8 block speed.
My point is that i don't understand the system that well. How exactly does raw dex translate into block speed? What equipment affects it?

I haven't really looked into it that much... but I would imagine how much you are carrying would impact a bonus from dexterity... being that dexterity is impeded by weight and bulk. On that note I would imagine they bulkier the armor and weapons you are using would impact it as well.
Have you looked at their encumbrance and such in relation to these numbers?
If they are all wearing the same gear and have wildly varying stats mayhaps the ones with lower strength/carry weight are being impacted by the weight/bulk of their gear more so than the ones who are significantly less burdened by it.
If that is a factor at all maybe the dexterity bonus is a much more linear curve and you are just observing variances caused by tertiary stat influence.
If not... I do not know.
I do not use heavy weapons or armors... everything is about speed and mobility for me when it comes to combat. My lowest athletics in my 20 man squad is 78. Heaviest weapon is 2kg. Average total weight carried is 22. I am amused by being able to run down and slaughter "Fleeing Rapidly" mobs on the move.
Just ran past, cut in front of them and hack them down as they try to run through. XD

sounds like your gonna have to wait for one of the math nuts to answer it. Math makes my brain hurt!!philthymcnasty wrote: My point is that i don't understand the system that well. How exactly does raw dex translate into block speed? What equipment affects it?

Phil mentioned that he's using Edge 5 class Toppers (Heavy Katanas) in his test...
Anyone know where I can find the blueprint for those lovely hunks of steel? Is the Heavy Katana BP back in the game yet? I've only found the Flat Toppers, which are hacker-class weapons...

Basic description of Attributes and skills.
So I'm going to be gradually explaing how certain skills and attributes level and how they affect your chracter as they level. As I figrue out new ones I will add them to the list. What version I did my testing in will be in parentheses before the skill.
Attributes
I'll start with strength:
(0.59.1)Strength starts at a base carry weight of 15kg (I'm assuming kg since that's what all weight is measured in in the the game.) in your inventory screen.
For every strength point you earn you are able to carry one more kg in your inventory. I'm assuming this number will increase indefinately ( I have verified it up to level 9,000 which results in a total carry weight of 9,015)
(0.59.1)Dexterity: Every level of Dexterity increases your Block Speed by 0.017. At level 200 Dexterity you have 4 Block speed which is the maximum you can reach. Any additional level gains are of no benefit. Every level of Dexterity increases your Attack Speed by 0.002. At level 200 Dexterity you have 1.2 Attack speed which is the maximum you can reach. Any additional level gains are of no benefit.
Weapon Skills:
(0.59.1)Katanas, Sabres, Hackers, Heavy Weapons:
These increase weapon damage for there perspective weapons.
They do not affect your attack speed, block speed, weapon speed multiplier or attack chance.
Skills
(0.59.1)Melee Attack: This affects your Attack speed. Max attack speed is 1.2. You reach this max at level 200(with Dexterity being level 0). Increasing your Melee attack skill after this level results in no benefits.
(0.59.1)Melee Defense: This affects your Block speed. Max block speed is 4. You reach this max at level 200 (with Dexterity being level 0) increasing your Melee defense skill after this level results in no benefits.
Theivery:
(0.59.1)Athletics: At level 0 Athletics you have a base run speed of 60. Every level gained equals 0.5 max run speed increase. So you have to gain 2 levels in Athletics to see an increase in your max run speed. So at level 10 Athletics your max run speed is 65 and at level 100 your max run speed is 110.
Info
(0.59.1)Weapon speed modifier: I can currently find nothing that affects this.
(0.59.1)Attack speed: you start at a base of 0.8. Max bonus at 1.2. Melee attack and Dexterity both affect this skill.
(0.59.1)Block speed: You start at a base of 0.6. Max bonus at 4. Melee defense and Dexterity both affect this skill.
(0.59.1)Attack chance: You start at a base of 0. There is no max bonus. Melee attack affects this skill.

thanks, that clears it up a lot. I thought the caps were at 100, not 200.
Also, the weapon skills affect damage. I have noticed improved damage when my skills are higher.

I keep forgetting to edit that.
And also, there are no real caps, you can have level 500 dexterity, you just stop gaining any benefit from it after level 200 (lower actually since melee defense also increases your block speed so you will reach the cap long before you hit level 200 dex). So the actual caps are block speed 4 and attack speed 1.2, not dexterity 200. Not trying to be anal, but just to be clear.

I am glad you cleared this up. this explains a lot about the system that i have not figured out despite being 230 hours in the game
this perfectly explains why they have uneven stats.

Unless it has changed recently in the past few patches, because of the way XP works the (mathmatical and real) limit as your xp progresses to infinity is 100, a kind of hard but soft cap. in fact, (again, unless it has changed recently) if your skill is over 100, using that skill will actually decrease your level because of maths. I had a pre-patch dude with 130 sabre skill, over the course of things he went down to 117.
These increase weapon damage im fairly certain, unless it has changed in a recent patch.Weapon Skills:

I can currently find no benefit to these skills. They do not affect your attack speed, block speed, weapon speed multiplier or attack chance.
I edited the weapon skills part.Mattk50 wrote:Unless it has changed recently in the past few patches, because of the way XP works the (mathmatical and real) limit as your xp progresses to infinity is 100, a kind of hard but soft cap. in fact, (again, unless it has changed recently) if your skill is over 100, using that skill will actually decrease your level because of maths. And I'm not sure about that, I have never tested it legitimately at such high levels, I was merely editing my character to see what the theoretical limits were. So you may be right about 100 being top level.
