wyUpdate error

Upon running wyUpdate:

"An error occurred

Unable to check for updates, the server file failed to load."

Clicking "Show Details" reveals this:

"Error trying to save file: Could not download "http://www.kenshiupdate.com/wyupdate/wyserver.wys" - a web page was returned from the web server."

Is this a problem I can do something to fix, or is it a problem with the updater/server itself?

I have the same problem, I've done a clean install from desura and the download page linked from the main site. No luck.

I've never needed to mess with the Steam activation, is that what we have to do now?

I only say try Steam because that appears to be the most reliable client with the least amount of errors. I'm not familiar with desura, but Steam has a tool to verify the integrity of the game cache, which has fixed issues similar to yours in the past.

Other than it being the update method if you bought it there, Desura doesn't have anything to do with wyUpdate. The problems seems to be the update server at www.kenshiupdate.com, which has never failed for me before this update. It seems like there would have been some sort of announcement if steam were the only way to update now.

Still happening after this new update. I'll echo the fact that I have never had this issue before.
