I think we should all start wishing small, and hope the engine Chris has to work with has the spunk to go bigger when it comes down to it. Imagine the thing trying to walk across the map; do you want something with feet that won't properly collide with the terrain? It'd look cheap.

I wish for a crazed billy-goat before I wish for something out of the mist.

Second off. They should not be creatures that you would willingly seek out they would be the hardest creatures in game that could wipe out a city in minutes if they wanted.

Third. I'd prefer a sea creature simply because then it can hide, and you aren't going to be expecting an attack of it attacks your ship is probably done for. What I want it a kenshi style sea monster that is as nigh as MOUNTIANS.
Again, start small. You may be requesting for something once Chris is further into development (unless you're not and you're just ignorant of the process), but something big is too much to ask for especially when there's still dumb little bugs in the game.

Ships aren't even a thing yet, so why add a creature that you would only survive from if you had a ship? That's like putting the cart before the horse, if the horse didn't even exist.

I agree start small I'm just suggesting something for like a near release patch not anytime soon. Plus by then I hop to have ships. I was just using ships as an example for size at this point.

Playing the game so far, and thinking about what it would be like if creatures were actually added. As I run across the vast f***ing expanses of desolate terrain, I actually pan the camera as my squadies run past lush patches of vegitation to stare at them and contemplate. I don't think it would be unheard of to see small packs/groups of herbivorous creatures (3-6 is a good start) just grazing and doing their own thing. In addition, we see rare amounts of bandits while crossing vast open terrain, but that shouldn't mean the creatures themselves should be just as scarce. I can understand predatory creatures being scarce (having to contend with the growing human population, and possibly other creatures). I personally would like to see an abundance of herbivorous creatures, as a way to train combat skills (with "penalty" due to the lack of how lethal the creatures may be) and gather resources, be it food or trade items.

Although a goal would be nice, I think the goal Chris is trying to achieve is more of a "expand and conquer" type game, and a giant creature would be difficult to adapt to this game's playstyle. I don't even think ships or large bodies of water would ever be added (saddly, with more focus towards bodies of water, couldn't care less about sea faring vessels) because the world of kenshi just seems more like a desolate wasteland game. I could be wrong, but I think the largest bodies of water we will probably ever see are just the occasional oasis or lake. And a creature of that scale would just distracting, for both gameplay and development.

I might be more swayed if we saw a couple creatures added similar to the ones found in the Lost Planet series (as large creatures). I don't mean ones on the scale of the bosses, but the large and common "lanky" looking creatures.

I know it's been confirmed, but you can't assume they're going to be exaggeratedly different, like minecraft. The real world doesn't suddenly shift from dessert to lush, overgrown jungle, or frozen tundra, and by the way Chris seems to be keeping the world as it is right now, he's aiming for realism. So far as we know, the world is primarily dessert/wasteland, so I wouldn't expect to see an arctic location, or maybe swampland, since it requires a very humid and wet climate. I could be wrong however, and his sense of realism would really create the world beautifully, making it incredibly large in regards to how huge it already is now. The transition from one biome to another should take long distances to fully change, rather than taking one step and you're immediately in the next climate. Rivers are "confirmed", but to what extent, where they lead, and how many there are is still a variable we can't rely on.

I was about to say that I would like to see some Shadow of the Colossus-type creatures, and then I read this. :D I'd like to take your idea even further and throw out the idea of a creature so massive that it cannot be realistically battled. I might be stretching here, but is anyone familiar with the Terrasque from the old 2nd ed. AD&D setting? It might be in the more recent editions, but as I don't play much (or at all) anymore, I don't know. My point ultimately is that the Terrasque is basically too terrifying to battle, and if you had the stones to do so, you would almost invariably perish, regardless. I always got the feeling that it was supposed to be an ancient horror (similar to Chtulu, maybe?) kind of creature that predates man and is assumedly on a godlike level of power. It woke up every few hundred years, or so, and went on a terror-ridden path of absolute annihilation, destroying all flora and fauna in its path.

In regards to the idea of implementing animals, period, I'm in absolute agreement. It would add a whole new facet to the game, specifically in regards to the economy. I would love to have mounted beasts, as well. Post apocalyptic samurai-like dudes riding alien mounts enforcing martial law just seems awesome to me. I'll stop now before I go off on a rant of how cool a feudal/manorial system would be. Lol

Mein Got!!! That's amazing! I think that would be the only large creature this game would require! So much possibility! I thought the back was more conical, but your 'flat' rendition makes me think about what the creature can be (re)purposed for, rather than just a large target to kill. Although I'm going to stick with my original position of "keep it simple", I'd still like to think of something fun to go along with it. I would also like to believe that it's very docile being as large as it is (gentle giant).

First thing is transportation, be it for people, goods, or weapons. Another idea: I'm sure most of you have seen LoTR, Return of the King. Picture the giant elephants, then just take the elephant away and replace it with this 'thing', but as I type this down, I'm thinking that this would be WAY too OP, so I'd rather not see that.

Mobile storage +1
Weapons platform/ fight able creature -1

^This is why I love being involved with games from the jump. They're so much more engaging when the players have a vested interest.

I would find it super sexy if different sized critters required different sized walls before they could not walk over them :]

I'm not sure if there should be a second forum made for the 3d graphics pros to submit their renditions of the "official" concept beasts, or if this should be the official forum for anything beast related. Regardless, I'm loving this forum (other than the odd requests such as super colossal monsters and things that don't seem to be really progressive towards the "development" of beasts).
