^Topic.

I'm kind of worried about this since it's a "black box" scenario and being a EAccess buyer, I'd like to know:

1. if the Havok people are committed to fixing this bug.
2. what the devs are going to do if it can't be fixed.

Kenshi is a very ambitious game, one that I very much would like to see succeed because if it does, this is going to sell a LOT of copies.

Good luck on the devs team on this one.

Havok is working with the Devs on fixing the issue.

I've already read that before I posted this.

That post doesn't answer the second question I posted.

I'm not a naysayer, neither am I putting down this game. I'm just curious, nothing more nothing less. You don't have to be so rude about it.

i highly dought that there is an issue if Havok team can't fix it, they are a rather large Company doing one thing, providing Core Game module and providing support when a issue comes up with there locked sections of their coding.

Considering how many games use Havok technology, a fix is pretty much guaranteed. though it may take a bit of time.

Chris Said they are also working on a round about fix, which they was partially successful with already.
They ( aka Havok ) are working with Chris to get the issue fixed.

it answered all your questions. which makes this post kinda redundant.
If my answers where wrong, one of the Devs would have chimed in and corrected me.

sorry if it sounded rude but that was not my intent.

I guess if there is no way out they would revert back to the old system but would try to improve it.

Considering 71.3 is fairly stable with very few loading area crashes. And the fact that there is always a fix for any bug. Its safe to say that your second question is a moot point. It is obviously being fixed.

I honestly could never see it "Not being able to be fixed". Considering they wrote the programming of it. It's not like they dug it out of an old temple or were handed the technology from aliens. They wrote it. They can fix it.

I do understand IMBACORE's point in asking the second question, as I considered it myself. The answer to that would be that on the off chance a fix somehow ends up not being found, the dev team would switch over to another (probably open-source, to prevent further black-boxing) library. It would take a while to convert to the new library's interface, but then development would continue as normal.
As for the first question, only the Havok staff really knows how much time they're dedicating to this particular problem. But we can tell there is progress being made, since a partial fix has been made and it can be noted in how stable the game's gotten lately (at least, it has for me).

Fact is that that part is not under your direct control, but you rely totally on Havoc.
Business wise this is a bad call, as you are now promising all kinds of fixes that need to be provided by a 3rd party.
As we are already months further, the issue is not fixed.

Lo-Fi is not in the driver seat, you are in the passenger seat on the dev part of your game, it appears.

You aren't on experimental are you? Cus i can't even remember the last time my game crashed due to the Havok bug, so i'm confident to say it's fixed there.

Sounds like you need to stop your bitching and step away from the game for a long time.

Very nice education shown in your language :)
mommy must be very proud

As such, I am not on experimental, and its confirmed the HAVOC issue is not yet completely solved.

So you have your facts wrong, and your language foul

To be fair, this is the case for many games that use engines or any parts developed by others.

Kerbal Space Program had issues with the Unity engine for a considerable length of time. Even now their 64bit version is borked. The game itself seems fine.

Either it'll get fixed and things continue on or it doesn't and a workaround is found. I don't really get your negative slant on everything in every thread I see your name come up?

So this is where the hand bags are being thrown... we were doing so well in the other thread!

Ironfist you have been a little negative. I am sure everyone who is following Kenshi has been a little irate at the time frame at one point or another, its just that we want it so bad!

I am guessing you spent a few days building a team, saving up some cash, then you ventured out into the desert built your dream home and the game CTD to death and the save was unplayable!

I feel for ya, this happened to me also..... i was livid, i took Chris's name in vain! But then i loaded up a new game, strolled around with one man getting my *** handed to me by every bandit and homeless man in the game. And yesterday after 10hrs of gameplay i walked into Skinner's Roam and killed every last mother ****** in that town!

This proved to me that even though this game is buggy and unfinished... it is still great fun and reaffirmed my FAITH in Kenshi!
If it ain't Filthy, it ain't right!

If you think its negative , that's your issue
I just state facts
The bugs are being handled by a 3rd party, and Lo Fi is not in control of it.
its fact, nothing more
driver - passenger situation.
But then, any criticism or statement of facts that are not up to par with the disciples of the game, is deemed negative. Tunnel vision.

This gives me more confidence than less. Havock are a world renowned game development team. In terms of experience and skill, they are far more likely to squash a bug with their software than Lo-fi are (no offense Lo-fi, love the work).

In regards to time frame... yes, you are right it is taking along time. But i still prefer to remain positive.
If it ain't Filthy, it ain't right!

Lel.

There are nearly no games that have been developed that don't rely on third party libraries or engine components. I doubt you could name one if you tried.

I doubt you have proof to back up such a claim.

Considering that Ogre3D has had games built on it which have successful pathfinding, then I imagine they will be able to find an alternative.

Well, if you manage to find a modern-day programming language for game developement in an old temple, I'd like to see it :)

As for the not handed by aliens..... weeeeeeelll... eh heh ^_^
