and what i mean is i built storage containers for my stone and building materials, but none of my workers will haul the materials to the storage even if they have room/its their only job ect. the containers are outside, IF that matters. over on my ore mine and weaponsmithing station, they are properly moving materials from the mine to storage/ the weaponsmithing table.

Yeah definitely something is wrong with workers right now. Mine won't fill the steel refineries (level III). They will empty them, but I have to keep filling them myself(transferring into someone's inventory, then from there into the machine).

work around

Been testing it in my game

Build Auto Mine ( stone or ore )
Build Stone Processor IV ( needs 1 person )
Build Steel Bar Processor II ( Needs 1 person )

on the opposite side of the processors build your storage chests, so any auto hauling has to go thru the processor first. the auto haul will fill the processor first and then fill the storage chests.

I've got the same problem. The funny thing is that autohaul worked fine for me when I first started building my town. They'd take stone from the mine to the stone storage container (then directly to the stone processor, when I upgraded it to level V, which requires no workers). They'd take building materials from the stone processor to the building materials storage. And they'd haul iron ore and steel bars, too - absolutely no problem with any of it.

When I imported into a new game, I knew buildings were buggy, but man, that was an understatement! Everything looked OK, but nothing worked right. And I couldn't seem to fix anything, either - certainly not without screwing up everything in the whole town.

So I imported into a new game again, without importing buildings, and started from scratch. But now, I can't get autohaul to work for anything. My engineers won't get building materials out of the storage box when they need them, either. (I don't know if that's related or not.)

I've gone around and around, trying to get autohauling to work, even dismantling structures and rebuilding them. No luck. I guess I'll try importing into a new game again. If that doesn't work,... I don't know.

after an import you need to rebuild your navmesh. though this is supposed to happen automatically, it is bugged.

Ctrl + Shift + F11 rebuilds your navmesh.

you might also need to open, close, then open any doors. that will fix any issues with people not moving around inside buildings.

I did that, several times. It didn't help. I didn't try closing the doors on my buildings, though the walls were so screwed up that it wouldn't have made any difference. (When I tried to dismantle the walls, almost every structure disappeared, at least partially.)

Here's a weird one, too: I just imported a saved game, thinking I'd start over a second time on my town. But the buildings imported, too, even though I did not select that option. (Again, autohaul wouldn't work.)

So I imported an earlier saved game, before I'd started that second building project at all. But the structures - which I hadn't even started to build when I'd made that save - still showed up! (Note that I made absolutely certain I did not have importing buildings selected that time, too.)

None of the structures showed as my faction, but rather as "Police HQ." And I wasn't getting any power from the generators. But I was able to dismantle everything without a problem. And when I build a stone mine, stone processor, and storage box this time, autohaul worked fine.

Weird, huh?

this is usually caused by using the in game editor.
you will need to delete your gamedata.base then re-validate your game cache.
if the town is still there then you will have to delete the data folder then re-validate.

As it turns out, I was looking at the list of controls, trying to find something I might have missed that would fix my autohaul problems, when I saw that Shift+F12 was the game editor. So I did take a look at it.

I didn't change anything or save anything, just exited out of it again. But that probably did it, huh?

However, I don't think I'll mess with anything now, because all of those structures dismantled with no problem, and I've finally got autohaul working again. Or will this screw up something else, far from my town, too?

I hope not, because it finally looks like I can build my town now (admittedly, I haven't even started building walls, and that's always been a struggle).

PS. Thanks for the info, as always. I appreciate it!

yes sometimes just opening up the editor will cause issues. like a statue appearing some place.

and not sure. if it works let it work for yea.

build walls in small segments. this usually keeps you from crashing. once the wall is laid down fully, rebuild your navmesh. then start building your wall.

when laying down walls save often and in multiple file names. just in case.

This works in 0.69.2, and may also work in the experimental version:

For iron mining:
Build automated ore mine. Build automated ore processor. Build Storage: Steel Bars. DO NOT build Storage: Ore. Assign one NPC the following jobs, in this order: Ore Mine > Ore Processor. The NPC will start at the mine, take the ore and put it in the processor, then take the steel bars and put them in the storage crate.

For building materials:
Build automated stone mine. Build automated stone processor. Build Storage: Building Materials. DO NOT build Storage: Stones. Assign one NPC the following jobs, in this order: Stone Mine > Stone Processor.
