For those who think dogs and other animals are OP
So here is how I did it. I went and got cannibal clubs to give my guys as weapons and then removed all armor and gear. Gave them all Med-kits and access to plenty of near by beds. I maxed number of squads so my town got beat up often. Next I put the game on max speed and watched them get their butts kicked repeatedly. You have to understand how this game works the more your guys get beat down the stronger they are when they heal back up. Now it only takes 10 of the 20 to rip a pack of dogs up. Right now I like to play with number of nests maxed so they have a challenge with constant animal attacks but the game does like to spring a leak and crash when you do that.
The point is getting your squad beat to an inch of its life REPEATEDLY makes them into gods.

Pretty sure that's common knowledge, on this board at least.
I for one really like the design that allows a "fail" state than isn't permanent. Most games end if the enemy defeats you. Few allow the freedom Kenshi does in this regard.

Jack of all trades, master of none.
I do not want to see the dogs change in their combat ability. The only thing that actually needs to change is the magical dogs that poof out of thin air on top of you. Other than that, leave it. Down with the filthy casuals. Go play the other 96% of games out there that accommodate you with hand-holding... Let me play my brutal Kenshi in peace...
Hey so This is something I have been very curious about. So you know how the npc's the HUMAN looking ones get stronger the more they kill and what not? well is that true of the animals? If it is I wanna raise a hellishly mean doggy and turn it loose.
Uh.. that's like the entire premise of the game. Everything gains stats the same as everyone else (though npcs don't seem to gain athletics! strange~) So in short. Yes. Very much so.gorathtar wrote:Hey so This is something I have been very curious about. Additionally, animal pets are going to be a thing. If they follow what people voted for, they won't be player controlled though. They'll be AI controlled but attached to a player unit. You'll be hatching them from an egg and raising them from there.

That would be so awesome! Only weird part would be getting a dog from an egg...maybe a pet dealer or a pet farm....
I can personally back that statement... or should I say that one hungry bandit I happened to use as my squad's personal slave training dummy for attack, defense, and weapons, strength, and dexterity training. That bandit can back that statement with a whopping 50+ def and toughness. Little did he know that he's destined to the incinerator or harpoon firing squads at some point.Zeal wrote:Everything gains stats the same as everyone else

You've become too powerful for us to detain any longer. I think you've missed the point of the people who've stated concerns over animals being OP. It isn't their stats or their strength, it's their ability to hit multiple targets with a single attack. Now while most attacks in the game shouldn't be able to do that from a physics standpoint, it holds especially true of the dogs, who can hit 5 units stacked together with a single bite, or in most cases take them down with a series of bites that should only effectively work on a single target. At least that's MY only complaint about them. Makes sense that they can take down several untrained men with little effort, and it makes sense that the packs can wipe settlements.

Personally I think they probably should be debuffed. But only because I find it a bit immersion breaking that these basic little dogs are seemingly more powerful than the trained military of these various factions.
I think these dogs should probably have their stats lowered to something a little more understandable given their size. And something larger and more intimidating with higher stats added to keep things dangerous.

they have been debuffed and with lower stats.
even if they still have the bad AOE, they have been seriously nerfed to the more advanced players.

Couldn't we just decrease their weapon length or does that cause issues/ is not functional?

this is not supposed to be an easy game.
those animals, live in a hellish landscape. They should reflect this.
Personally, i want to see sort of an eco system, with there being some prey animals, and a food chain.
I also want to see them hunt bandits, drag them off, and eat them.
I also think that capturing puppies, and raising beak thing eggs needs to be a thing, and soon. I would love to ride a mounted beak thing, with a heavy club, and charge into battle, Maybe even make beak thing armor too.
