Hello everyone,
I was wondering how everyone is building his town/base and/or shop/camp whatever.
And I also would like to show off mine so far. and keep you updated with my progress on it.
so here goes:
I am founded right in between the 3 holy farms.
I am with good terms (rep -5) with the holy nation, and they dont really bother me at all.
1 shack.
2 storm houses.
1 corner house.
entrance is protected with 6 turrets, though no one is manning them yet. 3 guys are capable.
I am working on it.
as you can see I have one beast squad, and I want to train them together with my fighter squad, as some sort of revenge squad.
my future plans are to recruit more people secure the base more, become self sufficient (all I need now are ancient books really and copper in the future).
and once the option becomes available, I will start conquering the holy farms and then the holy citys.
for they are evil. and racist.
but first I will take down the dust bandit king etc. thats first on my list.
so how about you guys?
lets see everyones progress, so far.

I don't have any screenshots ready but...
My last play through ( can you even call it that yet?) was pretty similar to your current one. But I had two more bases which I moved between when I felt like it.
In my current play through I decided to go hardmode and have settled in the jungles of Vain along the river. Its quite hard there since I only have three (used to be four *sad face*) low skill characters but I have finally gotten my first xbow on the roof of my storm house, this helps out a lot with the dreaded beak things.
1x stormhouse
1x shack
1x rice farm
1x greenfruit farm
1x wind generator
1x well

we're all still learning how to be better people (well, some of us.)
Blasted beak things. Ive seen nests of them take out all the hive villages. They even were alle to enter their buildings. It was a masacre! And I felt guilty, because the hivers have always been kind to me, and I lead the beakthings to them.
Thank the makers that you can reload the entire map again.

I get attached to chars, so i've been importing my squad since 0.5x or 0.6x. Initially i picked "Survivors" start, so i had couple of comrades in arms, who was the only survivors of some large battle, with one of them badly injured. Decision was made that they will not play cannon-fodder anymore, and will seek for a new life. Now Sol and Nines are two strongest characters in my company and therefore, i count them as bosses. I got 6 other "core" characters, including medic, 2 armorsmiths and 3 warriors. All of them are more or less universal and can defend themselves up to, think, 20 attack and defend skill head to head... but oh, to the base...
Home of Bootleggers is a bit messy, since i can never design my future base from the start. I settled on a small island between Bad Teeth and Blister Hill, closer to latter. My source of power is wind provided by two larde and small turbines. Got one small shack as a general storage, and one shack as a kitchen\food storage. Veggies\Wheat\Cotton farms are around. Stormhouse is used as research center. Wounded are healed on the sleeping bags dropped near general storage. I'm in a process of mining outpost building, in a minute of jog from the island, because i'm about to build this base good, and Blister Hill can't supply me with all materials needed to complete it in a reasonable amount of time. Planning to utilize Y-house as a crafting\research center, as well as build a bar\kitchen, and provide each couple with their very own home, where they can keep their stuff, raise kids, etc. , etc.
And i have no walls, neither i plan to build any!
I'm currently searching for hemp and new recruits, to kick some fogmen backs

(spoilers about some things in the world, but not their locations)
I imported my character from the previous version. However, I had a full squad of ten in my previous game along with more stuff, and I decided to weaken myself by losing all of my members, as well as keeping only a secondary weapon along with some light gear for quick travel in the new map. Nothing too OP or fancy. Although I did come in rather rich... So I brought myself up from nothing (if you ask some politicians).
I am currently settled along the river northeast of Stack, but on the other side of the river of the holy farm that is on the east side of the river.
I have 21 members, including 2 dogs and a bull with a bag on its back. I have adventured a good portion of the currently open world, I have killed fog men and a fog prince, I have visited mongrel, died in the robot graveyard, defeated the Dust King, but most of this has been with my powerful character that I see as my "main" (I understand there is no "main" in this game, it is just more fun for me that way personally).
We have researched everything free up until the highest level of research, and am growing a crap ton of greenfruit that I regularly try to make time to sell in order to make the funds to purchase more research books.
We have a very wide area walled off, which took quite a long while, but it was worth it as I have sheks and hive people and a robot in my base, so it helps to keep those pesky holy men out of there trying to kill us every ten minutes, and hungry bandits would attack every five. We are an enterprise of all kinds, thus the wide area, giving me great iron mining through machinery as opposed to manual labor, we have access to wonderful farm land along the river, along with excellent stone mining just up the hill. The only thing I don't have is a copper vein, but that is just outside of my walls closer to the main road.
Defenses, such as turrets, have not been adequately set up as I have been putting my iron plates into building other things, as well as my desire to replace my tier 1-2 walls with tier 4 walls, however the current walls cannot be upgraded to a level over 2 so I have to completely rebuild my wall patterns. We are currently producing Edgewalker 5 weapons for everyone, as well as beginning production of chainmail (shirts).
My "main" character has stats of mostly above 50 in just about every combat-related skill except defense which is just over 40. Everyone else is still much weaker, but once the weapons are built I plan to perform a mass murder across the holy nation for training (then cheat a little by using FCS to bring our relations back up for an import....shhhhh....)
I am hoping that after mass extinction, my group will be ready to revisit the robot graveyard and go to war well prepared. I also am trying to provide every one of my characters with a backpack, but I only knew of one shop that sold backpacks and its shopkeeper disappeared...so perhaps I can find more on the bodies of my fallen enemies. Maybe even steal a little bit of armor from the holy paladins themselves as I mow over them, but that is in consideration.

My toen has increased in size, ill make a picture later today.
I captured the dust king in an easy and funny way.
With my squad of 7, I killed the guards on the walls, and with my stealth specialist I entered the tower, to ases the situation. I found that everyone was sleeping except for the King himself, but he had his back turned towards me. So I knocked him out and kidnapped him While everyone was still sleeping.
Easely earned 30k.
A small holynation squad walked past my gate, and I though, what the hell, I can take them. Not knowing there were 3 other squads nearby as well. Imagine my face when I saw around 30 holynationist rush towards my gate helping the ones already attacking.
Everyone was fighting in the streets, it was an awesome and chaotic sight. I managed to knock 3 paladins down, and several followers. In the end everyone was knocked unconcious, but I didn't lose anyone. 2 closecalls though
Good training I tell you.

Hi all. This is mine.
Rautalinna means Iron castle in my language.
I put my city close to tiny settlement. Killing the dust king was hard but with good weapons and well trained people it's done. I was thinking that it ends dust bandits roaming in area but it was wrong thinking
On the map you can see the area where I been visited and next plan is to go north from Bad teeth. I'm also wandering is there any point to buy the heart protector schematics or not? I mean you get heart protectors from dust bandits a lot but can I make better myself or are they shoddy quality?
My next goal is to find place where I can hire robots and build a border fortification so I can control dust bandits better. Robots don't need any food so they are ideal border guards.
Tiny settlement bothers me a little. There is two shop keepers but they don't sell anything. Only buy until they used all their money. Also all buildings are empty. No furnitures at all.

Nice Base dude.
I recently raided a holy nation mine and free 3 slaves.
While raiding them slavemongers Came and took my wounded, so I attacked them too.
1 of the 3 slaves joined my team.
Got 28 or 27 People now, all above 20 attack.
It took everyone to raid that little Base though. A patrol Came by as well. Almost destroyed me, save for 3 of my men.
My troop return to Base While carrying eachother, all heavely wounded. Got attacked a bunch of times by several packs of dogs, When i was naar my Base, another HN patrol attacked me, and at the same time a pack of dogs attacked my rear, so I had to split my force in two, dealing with two threats. My farmer squad, and half my worked squad would attack the dogs, Whilst my fighter and beast squad took on the holynationists.
Only 3/4 could barely stand. And in the end (the battle took place in front of my gate) only a handfull survived this last battle.
They had to carry everyone inside, so I could close my gate, and then heal them.
Got no losses. And everyone got heavy armor now.
To bad i didn't record all of it. It Was pretty awesome.

Well since this is my first outpost location picture. ill give a small summary.
So i imported a group of 38 soldiers :p. Easy peasy u would think.so i brought a lot of stuff with me resources, armour, weapons and all that stuff. So thats the good stuff.
Offc most chars overloaded... with no knowledge of the map and every piece of food worth 1 nutrition
.
It started to look a bit grim, so first things first, send out scouts to find a city to buy food and prospect on the way to see if we can find a nice spot to set up shop.
Finally we find a city as we run closer we notice its holy nation offc what else we escaped there patrols ! So no luck, since our leader is a retired captain who fought countless wars vs the holy nation.
So keep on scouting ow to the south theres The Hub sounds promising ow escaped holy nation servants thats a good sign. damn all buildings in ruins. Offc i missed the bars... (didnt see em
) so atleast now we had a direction to travel to so we got on our feet and started the long periless journey away from the holy nation. killing animals along the way, but still low on food half starving. When we reach hub we found hivers and the wayward station. so food was on the way. send out more scouts from hub scouting the surrounding area for a good place to build an outpost...
Found 1 decent enough to start (since we werent to picky beeing starved to dead)
ill just give the rss: stone 100 iron 100 copper 39 fertility 100 water 60 carbon 0
And there where sheeps in the area
so everything u need to start an outpost away from the holy nation. And close enough to trade ...
