I just noticed that there was a skeleton that coul have been recruited in the previous version, but he isn't even there. Also, hivers and a small place called freeway station often sold engineer books or at least better books than normal one for research, and now i can't find any books that are better than rugular books.

My questions are, were there a rework with recruits and books can now be found more rarely ?And where ?

PS:I accidently found a skeleton amongst some ruins, north of the hub.

Science books and engineering blueprints are now mostly found in treasure hoards. I do find them for sale in World's End (it seems like a good number will be there on your first visit, but they won't show up regularly like science books once did in Hiver shops).

I've found a lot of ancient books in the Tech Labs guarded by mechanical spiders(Floodlands, Obedience and at the end of the Iron Trail) and I think I found a few in the Suspicious Lab. The Post-Ancient Workshop in the Purple Sands also had some, I think.

Treasure can be found in ruins. If you explore close enough to ruins, they'll pop up on your map. Once you get very close to ruins, you can see their name. Some treasure will be in chests, other things will be scattered around. Hold down "Alt" to see items on the ground. (This is also true of animal lairs.)

Generally, the more remote the ruin, and the better the lock on the chest, the better the loot. A few ruins have nothing at all and cannot be entered, to my knowledge (generally these are listed as Unknown Objects at first), but these are rare.

Treasure can also be found in cities, but that requires stealth/stealing abilities, or enough fighting ability to simply defeat all the enemies.

I started off crafting and trading like this too(back then Hivers had ancient books for sale so I didn't need mods), but having a bunch of adventurers as your main squad and hitting the tech ruins is really where the game is at its best. I had some lag as well, but switching to a lower resolution, sticking with a small squad and 0.93.28 fixed most of it(except World's End, naturally). I really recommend checking out the ruins.
