I was just thinking about trying to mod in an option for skeletons to repair NPC skeletons.
I'm thinking about the broken ones found wondering the wastes.
I was thinking that it would only be able to be done by a skeletons.
It could be done one of two ways.
It could be a conversation that is only available to Skeletons. The player would have to say a code phrase to deactivate the broken Skeleton, then they would have to have an AI core and a dozen or so CPU's to "Repair" the broken logic circuits. Once that was done the repaired Skeleton would either join the team or become part of the non hostile automation faction.
The other way to do it would be to defeat the skeleton first then you would replace the broken circuits. Not sure how you would do that unless it was something built into the system so it would register you adding components to the broken skeleton's inventory.
I think that the first one I can Mod. But not the second.
But I think this could only be done by a skeleton. And the code phrase to allow it could be on a piece of paper lost in one of the old ruins. Add some useful info to some of those old books.
skeleton Repairs
Oh yes, the robot spare parts have a very weird effect on me. After a while out in the wastelands I find myself carrying around a lot of CPUs, power cores and other stuff I refuse to sell to vendors because I feel like they could be useful to Burn but can't bring myself to understand how.
I'm necroing this thread with some new ideas.
I find it odd the robots get stronger with training. I was thinking that instead they should use some of the items that they find out in the wastes to upgrade themselves.
Examples:
skeleton muscles increase their strength/dexterity.
power cores increase their run speed.
CPU's can give a 5 point boost to attack. (they can still learn to fight normally, this would just give them a boost)
adding armor plate increases hit points at the cost of speed.
and with an AI core you can build a whole new skel from scratch.
it would be more interesting and give a more diverse path to skel life.

I agree!
Had gotten used to playing 'Robot' mods for Fallout...
Find a wrecked robot, fix it up and join the party or assign it duties
Can even go a step further and have pre-programed robots that only preform one function. Laborers, Sentinels, Scouts etc etc...

Necroposticity 4 life.
swillo has thrown some great idea: skeletons could use spare parts as gear. CPU or Eyes into head slot, Power Core or Plating into shirt slot, Muscles into feet slot.
I also find it odd that they can develop stats at all, as well as certain skills. Something should be done about that
