I get this game is all about the harsh choices made in a difficult world, but still there should be a kind of a morality scale to define your character, the world around you, and change the outcome of your interactions with different people. it could be as simple as a scale system like in DnD games, varying in different levels from good to bad, so different possibilities or actions/commands become possible.

this is kinda existing in the game for different factions and your standing with them, though thats somehow broken. the non existing interaction with "nobody" npc´s in the game, like the cannibals, farmer outlaws and such makes it the more obvious.

for example, starting off, you are neutral, but when you decide to earn your first money by selling people as slaves (as i did it hue hue) your morality drops to questionable levels. it affects in many ways, like a small boost to thievery, stealth and assasinations, but handicaps in more honorable professions. in the long run, it could affect who would join you, or how much they would charge you in the process. if you are a morally questionable guy, some good characters wouldnt even consider joining you.

another in game example how it didnt affect anything is, when i came across a woman, who sold me her mute slave "Rey" for only 1k cat, i did not hesitate to free him as soon as we were at the base! and nothing happened. this Rey character sounded (pun intended) so intriguing, i expected some kind of interaction, like Rey showing gestures of thankfulness, or him trying to run away or leave me. or give me the choice. it wouldnt even really matter if i let him be a slave, but nothing really happened. or at least there was no visible feedback.

it should cost you humanity to buy, keep, kill and sell slaves, how you treat your fallen enemies, if you steal and sell stolen objects, smuggle and so on. for that matter killing your inconscious enemies, or even eating human parts could become possible on higher tiers and ultimately stop you from interacting with whole communities at all. but then you can start interacting with cannibals, even if they are not really the friendliest of them. in the end, you are meat, and meat is good :D

on the other scale, being good could mean that people start to come to you or your settlements, to ask for help (you are our last hope obi wan!) or join your cause, or a rise in hungry vagrants visiting, because they have heard there are some wonders happening.

though i know it is hard to define what is right or wrong dependant on different perspectives, there should be a general separation and thus an ingame consequence following.

let me know if that has been discussed before, or if there are already plans/implementations which i am unaware of.

Happy surviving fellow warriors!
