Try to run experimental instead of stable version. Also it might just be that the game has grown too large for your PC, and you crash because you run out of memory (there's a reason why Kenshi is x64 now only). I have 6GB of RAM and still crash sometimes if I am running a large enough outpost.
Uninstall the game, then go to steamapps -> common -> Kenshi in the Steam folder and delete what's left (except for your whatever save files you choose - I found out that if I keep too many save files, the game slows down, so you might want to try keeping only 1 manual save + quicksaves and autosaves). Then you go to Steam Library, right click Kenshi -> Properties -> BETAS -> change to experimental. Then install the game again.
Once the game is installed and you launch it, make sure that "Sho-battai Walls v1" and "Newwworldplus v1" are disabled, these are dev mods accidentally left in the game and might cause unstability.
Start a new game, do not import, see if it still crashes.
Alternatively instead of "experimental" in the BETAS tab in properties, choose an older version (0.97.6) if previous versions were okay for you.
