The skills need to be harder to increase as they get higher and higher, right now it feels like 50-100 took half as much time as 1-25, probably because of all the extra damage your doing when your skills are that high. I cant tell if it gets harder as it gets higher atm, but if it is, it doesnt get hard enough.
I haven't got anywhere near that yet but I'm looking forward to it! Most of my squad are high 20s right now. One thing I'm not clear on is whether there is any group experience granted. For example, if I recruit a new member to an already highly skilled group it is likely he won't get a look in most of the time. Does he get any experience at all just for participating or does he have to land a hit?
That makes sense. So it would also make sense perhaps to recruit as many fighters as you want, or send you unskilled guys in first to get some experience while the others watch and wait and then wade in an mop up should things get too difficult. I even like the sound of that!

Most games make the higher skill levels harder to get too for good reason, but in kenshi this is especially important when you see just how powerfull the higher skilled guys can become. Lots of systems dont seem to be in yet, for example i havnt found any NPCs with very high skills as you would expect in a persistant world where all the NPCs skill up. Im guessing this is due to the lackluster AI but it doesnt seem correct.
I have to ask, is the rest of the world out side your view distance still "running"? do bandits and town gaurds still fight and work out their experience, and do traders still roam delivering goods?

hmmmm... this is a good question. i was under the impression that the word did continue--right?Mattk50 wrote:Most games make the higher skill levels harder to get too for good reason, but in kenshi this is especially important when you see just how powerfull the higher skilled guys can become. I don't mean to revive an old thread but I don't feel like re creating a new thread that talks about just the same thing.
So a curve indeed had to be added in skill learning, that's a good thing, but is it me or is it just a bit too hard now to level the skills past a certain point? I got my squad to around 40-45 and seems to have hit a wall. They're barely gaining any level now no matter how many men they fight.
I decided to get my leader to a better level than the rest of the squad and since he's in the range 40-45 too and specialized in heavy weapons he can handle on its own big groups of 20-30 bandits (thank you more_spawn.mod). So here I am leaving the squad in a friendly town and my leader roaming alone the desert fighting big groups of enemies one after the other for hours with the skills barely leveling after hundreds and hundreds of hits countered and blows delivered successfully. I can't imagine anyone reaching the 100 in the current state. I considered that it might be because of the mod but I didn't see anything about it modifying xp gain. I may be wrong.
As of how things are right now, it really feels like 50 is the new 100. Is it intended? Not that perfect balance should be the main focus in such early stages of the game but still, I'm wondering.

I doubt it, not in the way we understand it at least, it would be too resource demanding, most likely there are algorithms that take over parts that are not rendered (out of your vision) and simulate the world so AIs get xp and the world keeps "living" even then but not like when you were watching it on your screen. I'm not sure if such a thing is yet implemented though as in my game no matter how old a world is all NPCs seems to have the same stats given their "class". But again, I might be wrong.txfirefighter wrote:hmmmm... this is a good question. i was under the impression that the word did continue--right?

Lemme see here, Hitting recieved to increase skill yes, check.
Blocking needed to increase blocking yes, check.
things is hitting a wall for me to at 40-45 so learning curve, check.
Also dmg dealt dont increase quicker ranking up me think, actually think it slows down as one hitting foes have made me stop and serval times made me wonder to downgrade my weapons.
Also I love sending in my recruits on blocking training vs foes meanwhile rest of my clan drinks beer and dances around bones. Meanwhile My leader also the medic pepares the medic kit and sharpens his sword to get finnish the bandits up once they've beatened up the recruits enough.
And if they lose thier ability to run afterwards my brutes get to carry them along to the next fight.

damage does not affect XP, so using a weaker weapon to make the fight harder will increase skill faster.
The xp gain is quite strongly affected by the strength of your opponents, you level up much much faster if you fight against someone more skilled than you. I think you have hit a wall because there are no more stronger enemies in the game (yet) to challenge you. You can only get so strong by bullying weaklings all day.
Later on there will be much more variety and stronger opponents.
