wyUpdater, Kenshi from version 0.22 to0.24 issue.

I get about half way through the update process then it keeps telling me that"The following file are in use, these files must be closed before update can continue C:\Kenshi\wyUpdate.exe"...

This is the updater itself & either way I have tried closing it & it either does nothing or when I re-start the game the updater crashes refusing to start then I am left having to uninstall & re-install it again...please help.

Try running wyupdate2.exe and see if that works.

wyupdate2.exe ?!? where is that...all I have got in my installation directory is wyUpdate.exe & yes I have downloaded a fresh copy @ version 0.22

I've got the same problem, tried uninstalling and reinstalling and re downloading, but it makes me quit the updater before it finishes updating.

I don't see a file called wyupdate2.exe in the Kenshi folder, just wyupdate.exe.

No, whether I run Wyupdate.exe or Kenshi.exe the result is the same - it downloads the updates, but when it starts installing them it stops and a dialog box pops up telling me to stop Wyupdate.exe, and when I do it cancels the update. If I ignore it it doesn't install the update.

Great game otherwise...I am glad I've purchased it...I am just longing for the day when it is released in the full retail version with all these bugs worked out of it...bloody frustrating it is lol.

Its probably your firewall, the stupid updater will fail if it cant connect. I have windows firewall controller and I have to temporarily disable it to make the updater work.

If that doesnt help, click on "show details" when it fails and copy-paste the error message here.

Tried turning off the firewall, that didn't work either. I don't see a show details button, just this and as soon as I press cancel update it closes.

Based off that image its aready downloaded, so connection is not the problem. Try running the updateder (wyUpdater) in administration mode

You should make a manual update download or a new full game download. I think all the download options even external ones like gamersgate are 0.22.0. It also seems that the auto updater has always had issues with skipping updates. (0.23)

So right now it might be impossible to get a fresh copy of the game to the newest version, either the auto-updater needs to be fixed or a manual update needs to be made.

Don't press Cancel, you press the button next to it that says Close. Then the updater closes the programs for you and finishes updating.

There's no button that says close - the problem is that the updater needs to update itself, and it can't do that while the updater is running, so it needs to close itself. Doing that cancels the update, but not doing it means the update won't progress past that point.

I am running it as admin.

Is there anyway to do a manual update or download the latest version?

Desura will have the latest version, I'm going to make a new installer too. I think I will switch to a new auto-updater, I hate this one.

I have a good healthy net connection, the firewall temporarily turned off for the patching and all the latest files available to me freshly installed.

I am running win7 ultimate, quad core intel cpu, 12gb ram, ati 5850 and i don't use steam like 3rd party downloaders.

Is there a way for me to get this magical wyupdater2.exe being thrown around in this forum or am i stuffed until this things far enough done that gamers gate is updated properly for a full download?

Sorry, the update server got disconnected so I'm moving to a new one. Will take a couple of days. In the meantime I will upload a newer installer, or you can get it from desura if you really cant wait.
