To preface, my suggestion is more of an optional modifer to the game, not something on by default, per se.
So the game is set in a desert, a harsh desert, and i would LOVE the idea of having to worry about water, food, heating/cooling, and sleep. These are generally pretty easy things to add usually, given that they're timers that in turn can effect your HP, but it would go a bit further in the way of adding an immersion to the game.
Infact, any element of survival relating to the "what if" of being in such an environment is a bonus. Growing crops, owning land, water sources all seem like great additions to create more immersion for the game. I would LOVE to see anything that adds a level to the "what if".

There will be other environs other than desert. If you open up the editor, you will see references to other biomes such as swamps. I like your ideas, and I think they are not that far fetched. I see food allready in the game and I expect it to be handled in some way in the release of Kenshi. Considering how mod friendly this game will likely be, I would be assured that something like your ideas will be done in a mod.
Growing crops would be challenging to model, but wow...that would be great! Such a simple thing, but I could see some massive dynamic changes that could make to game economy and player strategy.

Production is the first step of trade. It would also make any form of camping outside your own village (like blocking off an enemy town) more balanced and fair to the town. I recall something about food and water a long time ago, but failed to find it.

Its all planned, even farming.
While its a bit of a thread necro, I just hope that it is some for of automated farming. If I need to manually sow crops, and tend them and harvest them then it is simply taking time away from more important things. Designating someone to some arbitrary farming job to take care of all the specifics for me is hopefully what Chris is envisioning. (I suppose I could cope with having to plan the layout at the very start if it came to that)

Yeah it will be automated
You are a life-saver. I was fearing having to do all of the farming manually. Will we have a choice of being able to swap, however? I mean, sometimes I like to live a peaceful life, and having things to do, such as farming would be brilliant.Chris_The_Great wrote:Yeah it will be automated
No prob really. Better than dozens of new threads all talking about the same thing. It's not like the topic of the post was irrelevant anymore.Pain wrote:Sorry for the sorta-necro. Actually didn't notice it...

Its not gonna be harvest moon. More like The Guild II.
That's perfectly fine too, I suppose! I'll just be a trader and sell my produce.Chris_The_Great wrote:Its not gonna be harvest moon. More like The Guild II.
In other news, I loved The Guild II, and one, for that matter. Still play them to this day.
Pity, I played the hell out of harvest moon
Keep up the good work!

Oh that is so reasonable, Blxz. I mean in the post Apocalypse, folks are still going to want to get their sweet tooth going on. Honey can keep a long time, and would be a feasible trade good. It would be a nice way to have tiers in agriculture too, or a means to increase crop yield.txfirefighter wrote:bee farming?
He said he was going to do that. LOL I remember bandits were in a town and they were in a battle with the police. After the battle my men dragged their bodies out in the middle of the desert, like they were going to die of heat or something.mrpoochpants wrote:To preface, my suggestion is more of an optional modifer to the game, not something on by default, per se.
